Bob is a leading practice management expert, author and consultant with over 20 years experience coaching FAs and FA teams. He began his career in the investment industry with Merrill Lynch in Atlanta GA.- becoming the youngest hire in the nation in his financial advisor training class.
Bob moved to Southern California to become the youngest branch manager at Merrill Lynch. Later at Prudential Securities he was named to the prestigious Branch Managers Advisory Council.
Then as Senior Manager – Advisor Best Practices Group of Wachovia Securities in Richmond VA, he successfully coached many of the firmʼs top advisors and advisor teams. He also moderated multiple practice management sessions for summits featuring Barronʼs top 100 advisors.
He was a leader in the development of advanced Advisor and Branch Manager training curriculum. He was also the opening and closing speaker at the firmʼs highly acclaimed “Mastering the Business of Advice” advanced training conferences delivered to thousands of veteran advisors nationwide.
Later as Director of Advisor Programs at Horsesmouth LLC, Bob became known for developing and delivering highly successful, innovative and entertaining live training programs to a variety of firms and financial advisor audiences – most notably on referrals.

Rick Shalla is an award-winning businessman, consultant, and management professional, who has been successful in the sales profession for over 40 years.
His financial services career began in 1980 with Smith Barney as a financial advisor and branch manager. He then built his second book in a new city in 1990 with Merrill Lynch, bringing in $128 million in new assets in 14 months.
In the next 20 years, he became a successful Complex Manager for Merrill Lynch in the United States and Canada. While in Canada he won awards for leading the firm in “How to make Presentations to Ultra High Net Worth Individuals.” He then became chief executive officer and president of a NASDAQ-listed investment firm.
Rick’s diverse career path has given him a broad-based perspective and a wealth of experience and knowledge. The foundation of his success is his especially rich education—a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Villanova University.
